2000 Pharmaceuticals PRODUCTS
Our focus is on drug discovery and drug development.
Pharmokine™s
Novel biologically active molecules liberated by the Pharmo process - i.e. these are drug candidates;
Range of products that are actually or potentially generated during cryptomic development:
- PHARMOCLAST™s - innovative platform technologies for drug discovery;
- PHARMOLIB™s - novel enriched libraries with motifs for drug discovery program;
- PHARMOARRAY™s - libraries arrayed systematically to facilitate assays;
- PHARMOSCREEN™s - innovative screening approaches to identify biologically-active molecules;
- PHARMOTEST™s - new diagnostic tools based on the cryptome concept.
PATENTS
Foundation Patent
This process patent defines the technology platform. A provisional
patent was lodged in 2002, and an international application was
lodged in 2003 bringing into the original patent further capabilities
including a 100-fold increase in a rate-limiting throughput step.
Chip Patent
The company lodged a provisional patent to enable speedy,
comprehensive and logical assays both for intra & extra-cellular
interactions and for protein interactions of all types anywhere in the
cell and suited for the coming era of Protein Chips.
Molecule Patent
The company lodged a provisional patent application in 2003 in
respect of an active PHARMOKINE™ molecule which affects coagulation.
2000 Pharmaceuticals'S MARKETS
The end-user therapeutic markets relevant to 2000 Pharmaceuticals's potential to enable drug discoveries via PHARMOKINE™s are diverse and large. They include many prevalent global afflictions including cardiovascular, cancers, inflammatory disorders (e.g. asthma, arthritis, atheroma), neurological and gastro-intestinal diseases. Each market is measured in many billions of US$. Access to the R&D efforts seeking to tap those markets will be developed via collaborations.
The current drug-discovery focus of the company is on those PHARMOKINES™ that are relevant to CARDIO-VASCULAR Disease, especially thrombotic (clotting) disorders which are the basis of conditions like:
- angina
- heart attacks
- strokes
- peripheral arterial blockage
- deep venous thrombosis
Cardio-vascular Disease is the No.1 cause of death and illness in the Western World--and soon elsewhere. The market for anti-thrombotics is large (nearly US$7Bn) and growing (up over 15% in 2000, and increasing), and there are significant gaps within the current drug armamentarium.
Two broad classes of drug are being sought:
- anti-platelet agents
- anti-coagulant agents
2000 Pharmaceuticals has a competitive advantage in CVD research via top scientists, with specific expertise in vascular biology, located in the world-famous Baker Heart Research Institute.
